A Sparrow Program
The LifeChange Program
A year-long, whole-person journey out of homelessness — walked alongside a community that believes in you.
The LifeChange Program (LCP) walks single mom families facing homelessness through a year-long journey toward lasting transformation. Participants live in homes provided through partner churches or generous donors while receiving mentorship across four areas of life — physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual.
It’s a hand up, not a handout. Through weekly financial coaching, peer support, and group mentoring, families set goals, rebuild stability, and rediscover their God-given worth — supported every step of the way by people who believe in them.

In their words
It’s a hand up, not a handout. You only get out of it what you put into it — and by the end I had achieved goals I set many years ago.
I learned how to accept my past, and realized how freeing it could be to let it go.
I had been stuck in survival mode for years. The program gave me and my children a chance to breathe, get organized, and focus on goals and dreams.
Life in the program

Common questions
Who is the LifeChange Program for? +
LifeChange is for single mom families with children who are facing housing instability or homelessness.
Do participants have to be Christian to join? +
No — Sparrow doesn’t discriminate in any way, including religious belief. LifeChange is a faith-based program, and the Built to Last curriculum includes biblical teaching, but neither attending church nor being a Christian is required to take part.
Can participants keep their job while in the program? +
Yes. LifeChange is designed to work alongside a typical daytime job — program activities happen just twice a week, in the evenings (currently around 4:15 to 6:15pm, though this can change). Sparrow also encourages and helps participants find work, since a steady job is a key part of building lasting financial stability.
How long is the program? +
LifeChange is a twelve-month program. We encourage participants to stay for the full twelve months to get the most out of our Built to Last curriculum, one-on-one mentorship, and life skills coaching, but life doesn’t always go as planned — we work individually with any participant who needs to leave the program early.
Families who need more time can also request to stay longer than a year. This isn’t guaranteed — it’s considered based on how well the family has integrated into the program, benefited from it, and attended and participated consistently during the first year.
What does the program involve, and what's expected of participants? +
LifeChange offers housing, one-on-one mentorship, financial coaching, and a community that walks with families every step of the way. In return, it asks for real commitment and active participation in mentoring and group sessions.
Two evenings a week, families meet with our team. Monday evenings are one-on-one: mentoring and financial coaching with their own mentor. Thursday evenings are a group session with the other families in the program, centered on peer support and our Built to Last curriculum, with a shared meal every other week. Childcare is provided during both.
We intentionally keep the number of families in the program small so that our staff can give each family real, individual attention — meeting them exactly where they are.
The goal throughout is whole-person growth: physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual, with goals set by and tailored to each family.
What guidelines come with the program? +
To help build a safe, stable home, participants agree to a few guidelines: keeping a substance-free home, with periodic drug testing as part of that commitment, and no male overnight guests. These guidelines are there to protect the stability every family is working toward.
Where do participants live during the program? +
Participants live in Twin Oaks Community (formerly known as Twin Oaks Mobile Home Park, and before that South Corvallis Trailer Park) — 245 SW Twin Oaks Circle, Corvallis, OR 97333 — a community owned and operated by Sparrow.
Housing itself carries no rent for the full twelve months, made possible through generous donations and partnerships with local churches that provide the homes. Every home is different: some are RVs, others are mobile homes, and each one comes fully furnished. A separate monthly program fee applies — see the next question for details.
How much does the program cost? +
Housing itself doesn’t involve rent.
Our monthly program fee varies by home, generally $300 to $350, plus utilities. Twin Oaks Community covers water and garbage, so those aren’t a separate cost. On-site laundry is available using coin-operated machines. Homes aren’t equipped with televisions or other electronics, and participants provide their own Wi-Fi if they’d like it.
What do you have for kids? +
Sparrow provides a trained, consistent childcare volunteer on-site during both Monday and Thursday program hours, so moms can fully engage in the program.
On Monday nights during program time, kids attend the Good News Club, a weekly gathering with pizza for ages 5 to 12, held nearby at Papa’s Pizza — the same Sparrow volunteer walks them there and back, and watches any other kids on-site in the meantime. On Thursday nights, kids stay on-site with that same volunteer, with free play time.
